Pitch Perfect Upholstery: Nixon Upholstery Transforms Liverpool FC’s Boardroom Lounge

At Nixon Upholstery, we pride ourselves on delivering high-quality craftsmanship with a personal touch. Our latest project saw us invited to work on one of the most iconic venues in the sporting world — Anfield Stadium, home of Liverpool Football Club.

We were recently honoured to be entrusted with the task of reupholstering 110 chairs in the prestigious Boardroom VIP Lounge, located in the Main Stand — a space reserved for club legends, executives, and elite guests on match days.

Luxurious Fabrics, Timeless Style

For this project, we used the exquisite Cristina Marrone Ombra fabric range. The chosen colours — Mink and Burgundy — were handpicked to complement Liverpool FC’s classic aesthetic and the refined decor of the lounge.

• Mink adds a light, sophisticated tone that softens the modern lines of the room.

• Burgundy introduces rich, warm accents that echo the club’s signature red and bring a regal character to the space.

The result is a beautiful contrast that balances contemporary luxury with timeless heritage.

A VIP Finish for a VIP Space

The Boardroom Lounge is a celebration of Liverpool’s legacy. Portraits of influential figures, club memorabilia, and deep red walls surround guests in a space steeped in football history.

Each of the 110 chairs was carefully stripped, reupholstered, and finished by hand by our experienced team. With high-traffic hospitality spaces like this, both durability and design were key — and the Ombra fabric delivers on both fronts.

A Fresh Pitch to Match

Coincidentally, during the week of our installation, the club had just laid a brand-new pitch at Anfield — a fitting moment of renewal, both inside and out.

Looking through the glass façade from the lounge onto the immaculate new turf was a reminder of Anfield’s world-class standards, and how every detail — including the seating — contributes to that experience.

Celebrating Legacy in Every Stitch

We were particularly moved by the artwork displayed in the lounge — including a painting depicting legends of Liverpool FC from different generations. Being surrounded by this heritage while working was a special reminder of how design and legacy intertwine.
